KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time since 2019, Eastern Oregon men's basketball is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released by the national office Wednesday morning.
The Mountaineers sit at 12-4 overall and alone atop the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings at 7-1. They are coming off a historic weekend, sweeping the Oregon Tech/Southern Oregon road trip for the first time in nearly two decades, highlighted by an upset victory over the then No. 20-ranked Hustlin' Owls. Following the loss, OIT slid just one spot to No. 21 in the latest poll.
Eastern leads the CCC offensively, shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from three-point range. The Mountaineers also pace the conference at the free-throw line, combining for a 78.8 percent mark while averaging 85.3 points per game.
Eamon Monahan leads the way, averaging 18.3 points per game while shooting 57.4 percent from the floor, ranking third and second in the CCC, respectively.
James Bodily ranks third in the conference in three-point shooting at 49.5 percent, followed closely by Monahan and
Trent Rogers at 47.7 percent. Bodily and Monahan are also first and second in the CCC at the free-throw line, shooting 86.5 percent and 84.1 percent, respectively.
On the defensive end, the Mountaineers average 38.4 rebounds per game, led by
Keilan Torkornoo's 7.6, which ranks second in the conference. Eastern also averages 6.7 steals per game, paced by
Logan Orchard with 22 total steals. Orchard also leads the team with 65 assists, ranking third in the CCC.
Eastern will look to carry its momentum into the weekend as it returns home to host Corban and Bushnell. The Mountaineers face the Warriors on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming the Beacons on Saturday at 5 p.m.
