SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Eastern Oregon men's soccer team extended its unbeaten start to the 2025 season, earning a 2-2 draw on the road against The Master's University on Monday evening at Reese Field. The Mountaineers (2-0-1) scored early and rallied late in a physical, back-and-forth contest.
Marcos Bravo found the back of the net in the 7th minute, giving the Mounties an early 1-0 lead. The Mountaineers maintained pressure throughout the first half, outshooting the Mustangs 6-3, but were unable to extend the advantage.
The Master's (0-1-1) responded after halftime with a pair of goals from Trent Rickard in the 57th and 63rd minutes—one assisted by Zach Rodriguez, the other unassisted—to take a 2-1 lead.
Refusing to fold, Eastern Oregon battled back. In the 71st minute, senior Henry Lopez equalized with a solo effort, knotting the match at 2-2. It was Lopez's first goal of the year and secured a valuable road point for EOU.
Eastern Oregon finished with a 16-6 shot advantage and put eight shots on goal, forcing Mustang goalkeeper Julian Graham into six saves. Lopez and Bravo accounted for the Mounties' scoring, while Jahrie Gray and Manuel Rodriguez contributed multiple shots. EOU also held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks and committed 10 fouls to The Master's 13 in a physical match that featured four yellow cards—three issued to Eastern Oregon.
The Mounties continue their California road swing Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Hope International with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
