GREENWOOD, Ind. – Jacob Russell of Eastern Oregon University has been named to the 2025-2026 Academic All-America Second Team, an honor announced Tuesday morning by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes his exceptional performance both in the classroom and on the field this season.

Out of more than 33,000 nominations nationwide, Russell earned recognition for his impressive academic achievements while maintaining high athletic standards. After being selected for the All-District Team, he advanced to the national ballot, where CSC members voted on 2,000 nominees to determine the Academic All-America teams.

By earning this distinction, Russell joins a prestigious group of student-athletes who excel not only in their sports but also in their academic pursuits. The Academic All-America honor has long been a symbol of excellence, with past recipients including notable athletes and leaders in fields such as medicine, business, science, and the arts.
