On the defensive end,

The Mounties came out strong in the opening set, jumping to an 11-5 lead fueled by a five-point run that included kills from Burlingame and Mills and an ace by
Ava Semprimoznik. WWU clawed back to tie it at 14-14, but Eastern regained control with a kill and block by
McKenzie Jonas and another ace from Womack. Vaughn added two late kills, and a Mountaineer block sealed the set at 25-22.
EOU opened the second set with an 18-6 run, forcing two Walla Walla timeouts. The Wolves responded with a six-point surge, including four straight service aces, but the Mounties quickly recovered. Womack delivered three kills to halt the momentum, and Vaughn powered home the final three points to secure the 25-20 win.
In the third, WWU stayed close early, tying the set at 5-5. But Eastern slammed the door with a commanding stretch featuring 10 kills, two blocks, and an ace, cruising to a 25-13 victory to complete the sweep.
The win marks the Mountaineer's 11th sweep of the season and their 13th victory over a team either ranked or receiving votes in the national poll.
EOU remains on the road for a midweek showdown at No. 12 College of Idaho on Wednesday before returning home on Saturday to host Warner Pacific.
