LA GRANDE, Ore. – A second-half goal from
Joslyn Sizemore lifted the Eastern Oregon women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Corban University on Saturday afternoon at Community Stadium.
The Mountaineers (7-2-1, 4-0-0 CCC) dominated possession and outshot the Warriors 23-2, but it took until the 50th minute, when Sizemore found the back of the net for her third goal of the season, which ultimately stood as the match-winner.
Corban (3-5-0, 0-3-0 CCC) managed just two shots on the day, both of which were on target but handled by EOU goalkeeper Madeline Barker, who recorded her first clean sheet of the season. Corban keeper Catriona Burns finished with eight saves on the afternoon.
Eastern Oregon applied consistent pressure throughout the match, especially in the second half, where they tallied 15 shots and earned nine corner kicks. Ashley Smith led the Mounties with five total shots and three on frame, while Macy Reed and Jillian Brown each added two shots on goal.
With the win, Eastern Oregon improves to 4-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play and remains in the hunt at the top of the standings. The Mountaineers will return to action next weekend as they continue CCC play on the road in Caldwell, Idaho, against the Yotes at 4 p.m. MT on Friday, Oct. 3.
