CALDWELL, Idaho – Eastern Oregon women's soccer saw its four-match win streak in Cascade Collegiate Conference play come to an end Friday afternoon, falling 3-1 to nationally ranked College of Idaho at Simplot Stadium. The Mountaineers (7-3-1, 4-1-0 CCC) couldn't overcome an early deficit despite a second-half spark, while the Yotes (8-1-0, 5-0-0 CCC) remained perfect in league action.
College of Idaho took control early with two first-half goals from Gianna Yslava in the 19th and 27th minutes. Her first strike was a rebound off a Madeline Barker save from a penalty kick, while the second was set up by Kyndra Lyons.
The Mounties came out of halftime with renewed energy and pressure. Eastern Oregon got back in the match in the 64th minute when Siena Salazar buried her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Karina DeYoung, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The Mounties continued to press and earned three second-half corner kicks but were unable to find the equalizer.
The Yotes added another goal in the 87th minute when Allison Moultray scored off a feed from Natasja Davis, sealing the 3-1 result.
The Mountaineers were outshot 12-7 overall and trailed 6-2 in shots on goal. Barker finished with three saves in net and showed strong play in the back, while Carly Imes and Salazar each recorded a shot on goal. The match featured 27 fouls whistled against Eastern Oregon in a tough, gritty contest.
Eastern Oregon is back on the road next weekend in Montana to face Carroll College on Thursday, October 9, at 5 p.m. MT.
