Mountaineers and Warriors Battle to Scoreless Draw

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Despite dominating nearly every statistical category, Eastern Oregon University men's soccer was forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against Corban University on Saturday evening at Community Stadium. The Mountaineers (6-0-3, 3-0-1 CCC) remain unbeaten on the year but saw their four-game winning streak snapped in a physical, defensive battle.

Eastern Oregon outshot Corban 19-1 and earned 10 corner kicks to Corban's one, but could not find a way past Warriors goalkeeper Isaac Pureco, who turned in a six-save performance to preserve the shutout.

The Mountaineers generated consistent pressure throughout both halves, placing six shots on goal and creating chances through Daniel Kropf, Anthony Macedo, and Henry Lopez, among others. Rene Prieto and Armando Castro also registered shots on frame, but Corban's defensive unit held strong under mounting pressure.

EOU goalkeeper Anthony Lemus had a quiet evening, going untested in net and not facing a single shot on goal. The Mountaineers defense limited the Warriors (2-6-1, 0-2-1 CCC) to just one shot total for the match.

The contest turned chippy in the second half, with six cards issued in the final 40 minutes. EOU received four cards, including a red card to Rene Prieto in the 90th minute, while Corban was shown two yellows, including one to Alexander Guindy in stoppage time

Eastern Oregon will look to rebound and continue its strong conference campaign against College of Idaho on Friday Oct 3 at 6:30 p.m. MT.
