LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon women's soccer kept its strong start to Cascade Collegiate Conference play rolling with a 3-0 shutout over Bushnell University on Friday night at Community Stadium. The Mountaineers (6-2-1, 3-0-0 CCC) used a dominant second-half performance to pull away from the Beacons and remain unbeaten in conference action.
After a scoreless first half that saw EOU apply steady pressure, the Mounties broke through in the 52nd minute when Ashley Smith found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. Just over two minutes later, Holly Dorhauer added a goal of her own to double the lead.
The Mountaineers capped the scoring in the 82nd minute when Ava Henkemeyer netted her third goal of the season, assisted by Siena Salazar and Gracie Rainsberry, sealing the 3-0 victory.
EOU outshot Bushnell 20-6 and put 11 shots on goal. Henkemeyer, Peyton Jacaway, and Karina DeYoung were among the most active attackers, combining for six shots on goal. The Mounties also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Rylee Schei earned the win in net with one save, as the EOU defense held Bushnell (3-2-1, 1-1-0 CCC) to just one shot on target. Beacons goalkeeper Ana Augusto made eight saves in the loss.
Eastern Oregon looks to complete its conference home-opening weekend tomorrow, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. against Corban.
