LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon men's soccer team continued its dominant form in Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a 3-0 shutout victory over Bushnell University on Friday night at Community Stadium. With the win, the Mountaineers remained unbeaten on the season, improving to 6-0-2 overall and 3-0-0 in CCC action.
EOU jumped out to an early lead in the 5th minute when senior forward Marcos Bravo scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season, assisted by Henry Lopez and Anthony Macedo. The Mountaineers doubled their advantage in the 34th minute as Milton Hernandez found the back of the net.
Eastern Oregon closed out the scoring in the 77th minute when Tawanda Rice notched his first goal of the year off a second assist of the game from Lopez.
The Mounties controlled possession and tempo, limiting the Beacons to just four shots on goal. Beacons keeper William Haberfield had one save. Eastern Oregon keeper Anthony Lemus posted a clean sheet with four saves in 90 minutes of action.
Lopez was pivotal in the attack with two assists, while Bravo and Hernandez each added to their season goal totals. Macedo also contributed with an assist from the midfield.
The match featured a physical edge with 26 total fouls and four yellow cards issued, including two to Bushnell and two to EOU.
Eastern will look to round out the conference home opening weekend against Corban at 6:30 p.m
