KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon softball continued its postseason surge with a dominant 5-0 shutout of No. 2-ranked Oregon Tech in the CCC Tournament semifinals on Friday afternoon at Stilwell Stadium. The win propels the Mountaineers into the championship round through the winner's bracket.
With the victory, EOU (31-9) advances to Saturday's title game and will have two chances to clinch a second straight Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament crown. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. PT.
Kylie Parsons was masterful in the circle, throwing a complete-game one-hitter to improve to 16-0 on the season. The senior right-hander faced the minimum through six innings and finished with four strikeouts and no walks in the seven-inning gem.
The Mounties broke the scoreless tie in the fourth when Emily Barry launched a two-run home run to left-center, scoring Grace Spencer and putting EOU ahead 2-0. Barry came through again in the fifth, getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 3-0. Two batters later, Hope Burke delivered a ground-rule double to left-center, plating two more runs and giving Eastern Oregon all the insurance it would need.
Barry finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored, while Burke added two hits and two RBIs. Katelynn Evans went 2-for-4 and scored a run as part of EOU's six-hit performance.
The Owls were held hitless through 6.2 innings until a two-out double in the seventh, but were unable to mount a rally.
Eastern Oregon now awaits the winner of the loser's bracket final and will look to secure back-to-back CCC Tournament titles on Saturday.
