LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon women's lacrosse team took the field at Community Stadium on Saturday but fell to Lewis & Clark College 19-2.
Lewis & Clark set the tone early, netting five goals in the opening quarter while holding Eastern Oregon scoreless. The visitors carried that momentum into the second period, extending their lead to 10-1 by halftime. Despite a resilient effort from EOU, the Pioneers maintained control throughout the game, outscoring the Mountaineers in each quarter.
Jade McCoy led the offensive effort for Eastern Oregon, scoring both of the team's goals. She found the net in the second quarter and added another in the final period off a free-position shot. Sophia Martinez and Red Pratt contributed to EOU's attack, registering multiple shot attempts, while goalkeeper Alexa O'Callaghan recorded four saves in net.
Lewis & Clark was led by standout performances from Aviana Gonzales and Mack Searle, who tallied five goals apiece. Sage Swegle also added five goals, while Finley Allen contributed with a goal and two assists.
Saturday also marked senior day for the Mountaineers, honoring Claire Bever, Sydney Vopat, and Anjelynn Baron for their contributions to the program. The Mountaineers will next travel to Canton, Missouri to face Culver-Stockton College on March 24th.
