WICHITA, Kan. – Eastern Oregon University's Liv Wieber cemented her place among the nation's best on Saturday, earning All-American status with a third-place finish in the 145-pound division at the NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship.
Wieber's lone setback came in the semifinals against eventual national champion Esther Kolawole of William Penn, who secured a technical fall victory (TF 11-0). Undeterred, Wieber bounced back in the consolation semifinals, pinning Doane's Bridgette Sotomayor in 5:21 to advance to the third-place match. She then capped her impressive tournament run with another dominant performance, defeating Sevreign Aumua of Missouri Valley by fall in just 2:54.
With Wieber's performance leading the way, the Mountaineers finished 21st overall in the team standings, accumulating 24.5 points in the national tournament.
