Eastern Oregon Takes Series Over Thunderbirds

La Grande, Ore. — Eastern Oregon shut out the University of British Columbia, 4-0, in a dominant performance at Peggy Anderson Field on Saturday. The Mountaineers extended their win streak to six games.

Sophomore pitcher Kylie Parsons (4-0) tossed six innings of three-hit ball and struck out eight. Parsons did not allow any runs and was in control throughout, retiring the side in order in the fourth and fifth innings. Camille Schmitz closed the game with a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one hit and striking out two.

At the plate, EOU capitalized on key home runs. In the fifth inning, Alexis Blankenship gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead with a solo home run to left field. The Mountaineers then exploded for three runs in the sixth inning. Emily Barry hit a three-run homer, bringing in Madelyn Durham and Hannah Tyree, who both reached base earlier in the inning.

Durham finished the game with three hits, including a pair of singles, while Blankenship added a hit to accompany her home run. Barry's home run marked the team's second of the game and brought her RBI total to three for the contest. Despite a strong effort from British Columbia, including a pair of hits from Jillian Matsubara and Keona Nordquist, the Thunderbirds could not push any runs across the plate.
