Eastern Oregon Falls to No. 19 Lewis-Clark State, 68-59

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon women's basketball team struggled to find its offensive rhythm in a 68-59 loss to No. 19 Lewis-Clark State on Saturday afternoon at Quinn Coliseum.

The Mountaineers started strong but were outpaced in the second quarter, scoring just eight points as the Warriors built their lead. EOU shot 37.0% from the field, including 34.4% from beyond the arc, but 24 turnovers proved costly against a disciplined Lewis-Clark State defense.

Maggie Smith and Brie Holecek led the Mounties with 18 points each, both knocking down four three-pointers. Smith added three rebounds and two steals, while Holecek contributed five assists. Kelsie Siegner had a solid all-around performance, finishing with 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Lewis-Clark State capitalized on Eastern Oregon's miscues, scoring 20 points off turnovers. Ellie Sander paced the Warriors with 17 points and five steals, while Darian Herring added 14 points, seven rebounds, and six blocks. Tatum Brager chipped in 13 points, going 5-of-7 from the field.

The Mountaineers trailed by 14 at halftime but found their groove in the third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 19-15 behind a strong shooting display from deep. However, Lewis-Clark State maintained control, using its inside presence to score 42 points in the paint.

Eastern Oregon will look to rebound next week when it hits the road to face the Lions of Multnomah University on Friday, Feb. 14, at 5:30 p.m.
