LA GRANDE, Ore. – Fourth-seeded Eastern Oregon University women's basketball came up short in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday night, falling to No. 5 seed College of Idaho, 60-53, at Quinn Coliseum.
The Mountaineers (19-9) started strong, leading 18-15 after the first quarter but struggled offensively down the stretch, shooting just 32.3% from the field and 20% from three-point range. Both teams entered the second half tied at 28 apiece, but the Yotes claimed a 32-25 advantage in the final 20 minutes to advance to the CCC Semifinals, where they will face the winner of Southern Oregon and Evergreen State.
Kelsie Siegner led Eastern Oregon with 18 points, knocking down three three-pointers while adding seven rebounds, five steals, and five blocks. Brie Holecek posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Raquel Fehringer chipped in seven points.
Eastern Oregon held a five-point lead early but saw momentum shift as College of Idaho's Kylie Waltermeyer took over, finishing with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Taryn Riley added 12 points, and Brooke Beresford contributed 10 for the Yotes.
Despite tying the game at 44-44 early in the fourth quarter, the Mountaineers were unable to regain control as College of Idaho closed the contest on a 16-9 run.
The Mountaineers conclude the 2024-25 season with a 19-9 overall record, including a 15-7 mark in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The NAIA Selection Show is set for 7 p.m. CT on March 6, with teams awaiting at-large bid selections.
