LA GRANDE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon men's basketball team clinched the Senior Night win, handing Evergreen State a 96-85 loss to close out regular-season play. The Mounties honored their seniors—
Brennen Newsom,
TJ Doman, and
Malachi Afework—for the impact they have made on the program both on and off the court. The celebration highlighted their contributions over the past couple of seasons.
Brennen Newsom led the charge for the Mountaineers, finishing with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist in just 26 minutes of play. He was highly efficient, shooting 9-of-11 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. Garrett Hawkes also had a standout performance, contributing 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. TJ Doman added 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists to help propel Eastern Oregon to victory.
Evergreen was led by Solomon Campbell, who posted 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Garrett Long contributed 13 points and 3 rebounds. Bradley Graham had a solid outing off the bench, scoring 21 points and grabbing 1 rebound, hitting 4 three-pointers in the process.
The first half saw both teams battling back and forth, with the Mountaineers taking a 57- 44 lead into the break, thanks to their high-scoring offense and efficient shooting. Eastern Oregon shot 59.5% from the field in the first half, compared to Evergreen's 51.5%.
Eastern Oregon's defense, led by Doman and Newsom, stifled Evergreen's shooting as they limited the Geoducks to a 41.4% shooting percentage in the second half. The Mountaineers also dominated the paint, outscoring Evergreen 56-18 inside.
Eastern Oregon will await the results across the Cascade Collegiate Conference matchups to determine CCC Championship Tournament seeding.
