LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Mountaineers secured a 64-49 victory over the Northwest University Eagles on Friday evening in La Grande, Oregon.
Eastern Oregon's offense was led by Kelsie Siegner, who had a standout performance with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists. She was a key contributor both offensively and defensively, helping the Mountaineers control the boards with a total of 48 rebounds compared to Northwest's 39. Siegner was also efficient from beyond the arc, making three of her six three-point attempts.
Maggie Smith also contributed 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers, and adding four assists. Raquel Fehringer chipped in with nine points, while Brie Holecek finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
Despite a slow start in the fourth quarter, where Eastern Oregon managed only one point, the Mountaineers had already built a commanding lead in the first three quarters. They led 43-24 going into the final frame, where they were able to maintain their advantage, limiting Northwest to just 16 points in the second half.
Northwest was led by Kaleah Madeiros, who finished with 12 points and four rebounds, while teammate Saydee Anderson added 12 points and three assists. However, the Eagles struggled with their shooting, finishing the game with a 29.7% field goal percentage and 26.1% from three-point range.
The Mountaineers had a significant advantage in points off turnovers, scoring 23 compared to Northwest's 19. Additionally, Eastern Oregon dominated the fast break, outscoring the Eagles 18-7 in that category.
The Mountaineers will face the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Quinn Coliseum. Eastern Oregon will honor their seniors during the halftime of the men's game.
