PORTLAND, Ore. — Eastern Oregon Mountaineers defeated the Warner Pacific Knights 89-54 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup at CC Perry Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The Mountaineers took control early, finishing the first quarter with an 18-17 advantage. Eastern Oregon expanded its lead in the second quarter, outscoring Warner Pacific 17-13 for a 35-30 halftime lead. The Mounties maintained dominance throughout the second half, including a 28-point third quarter and a 26-point finish in the fourth.
EOU was led by senior guard
Brie Holecek, who contributed a game-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Holecek also added eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Kelsie Siegner also had a solid outing, recording 12 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while
Raquel Fehringer dished out 13 assists to complement her six points and five rebounds.
For Warner Pacific, Emily Fortin led the way with 22 points, including two 3-pointers. Fortin also grabbed six rebounds and added an assist. Amalya Sales chipped in 10 points and four assists, while Alexa Mee provided a strong presence in the paint with nine rebounds to go along with four points.
Eastern Oregon shot 53.7% from the field (36-of-67) and hit 43.5% of their three-pointers (10-of-23). They also dominated on the boards, outrebounding Warner Pacific 44-30, and were effective at the free-throw line, converting 7-of-9 attempts (77.8%).
The Knights struggled offensively, shooting just 35% from the field (21-of-60) and only 25% from beyond the arc (5-of-20). Warner Pacific also committed 15 turnovers, which the Mounties capitalized on for 12 points off turnovers.
Eastern Oregon will look to carry momentum into the following weekend of CCC play as they return home to face the Eagles of Northwest University on February 21st at 5:30 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
