Unstoppable Mountaineers Roll Past Evergreen in Olympia

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Eastern Oregon University Women's Basketball put together a dominant performance on both ends of the floor in its fourth Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup, overwhelming The Evergreen State College 106–39 on Saturday night. Behind efficient shooting, relentless pressure in the paint, and impressive roster depth, the Mountaineers improved to 12–0 overall and 4–0 in conference play.

Eastern Oregon set the tone early in the first quarter, jumping out to a 19–7 lead while holding Evergreen to just 15.4% shooting from the field. The Mountaineers controlled the glass from the opening tip, outrebounding the Geoducks 16–7, including 11 defensive boards. Although EOU's aggressive play resulted in eight personal fouls, TESC was unable to capitalize at the free-throw line, converting just two of six attempts.

The game quickly broke open in the second quarter as Eastern Oregon erupted for 32 points while limiting Evergreen to just five. The Mountaineers shot an impressive 63.2% from the field and dominated in the paint, outscoring the Geoducks 16–0 inside. EOU's bench made an immediate impact, contributing 20 points in the quarter, while the defense forced turnovers that turned into 14 points. At halftime, the Mountaineers held a commanding 51–12 advantage.

The Mounties continued its control after the break, outscoring the Geoducks 22–9 in the third quarter. While both teams struggled from beyond the arc, the Mountaineers stayed efficient overall, shooting 55.6% from the field. Defensive pressure remained a key factor, as EOU collected five steals and turned them into fast-break opportunities, while once again winning the rebounding battle 13–5.

The Mountaineers closed the game with their most efficient quarter, pouring in 33 points in the fourth. Eastern shot 81.3% from the field and knocked down six of eight three-point attempts, while the bench added 17 more points to cap off the blowout.

Kelsie Siegner recorded her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds while adding 4 assists. Kaiea Waiwaiole followed with a strong all-around performance, scoring 13 points and tallying 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals while shooting 50% from the field. Three other Mountaineers—Kast, Smith, and Niemeyer—also reached double digits in scoring.

Overall, Eastern Oregon dominated nearly every statistical category, shooting 57.5% from the field, 37.9% from three-point range, and 68.8% from the free-throw line. The Mountaineers held a 56–12 advantage in points in the paint, scored 30 points off turnovers, and received nearly half of their offense from the bench, which totaled 50 points. Evergreen struggled offensively, shooting just 24.1% from the field and 22.2% from beyond the arc.

Eastern Oregon will look to keep its unbeaten streak alive when it returns to action on December 30, traveling to Caldwell, Idaho, to face The College of Idaho. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. MT.
