Mountaineers Finish 2025 Strong With Victory Over Yotes

CALDWELL, Idaho – Eastern Oregon (RV) Women's Basketball closed out the 2025 calendar year on a high note, taking down The College of Idaho 58-52 on Tuesday evening. The Mounties leaned on a dominant all-around performance from Kelsie Siegner, who recorded her fifth double-double of the season, and a double-digit scoring effort from Kali Kast to secure their fifth Cascade Conference win.

The opening quarter set the tone for a physical and evenly contested matchup. Eastern Oregon held a slim one-point edge, outshooting the Yotes by converting 7-of-14 field-goal attempts while College of Idaho made 4-of-10. Despite being outpaced on the glass and receiving more production from the Yote bench, the Mountaineers' aggressive defense and interior presence proved decisive early. EOU scored 10 points in the paint, forced six turnovers, and turned those miscues into four points while adding three steals to maintain control.

Eastern found another gear in the second quarter, gradually widening the gap. The Mountaineers entered halftime with a 38–31 advantage after outscoring the Yotes 23–17 in the period. EOU continued its efficient shooting, finishing the half at 53.5% from the field and an impressive 75% from beyond the arc.

College of Idaho mounted a strong response in the second half behind a game-high 21 points from Anna Mooney. The third quarter featured shooting struggles from both teams, as each side connected on fewer than 30% of their attempts. Despite the low-scoring stretch and a narrow one-point margin in the quarter, Eastern Oregon's commitment to defensive rebounding and consistent scoring in the paint allowed the Mountaineers to preserve their lead.

The Yotes made their final push in the fourth quarter, as Mooney scored nine points in the period to pull College of Idaho within three with just under three minutes remaining. However, Eastern Oregon stayed composed, executing defensively and capitalizing on key possessions to close out the six-point victory.

While both teams endured stretches of cold shooting, Eastern Oregon's ability to score inside and convert off Yote turnovers ultimately made the difference. Siegner delivered a standout performance, leading the Mountaineers with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, five steals, and two blocks. Kast added 11 points and six rebounds while contributing two blocks on the defensive end.

With the win, Eastern Oregon improves to 13–0 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 5–0. The College of Idaho falls to 9–4 overall and 3–2 in Cascade Conference action. The Mountaineers will return in the new year to host Warner Pacific at Quinn Coliseum, with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
