LEWISTON, ID – The Eastern Oregon University Women's Basketball team continued its early-season dominance, defeating Montana Western 71-58 on Saturday afternoon at the LC State Tournament in Lewiston. With the win, the Mountaineers remain unbeaten at 4-0 to start the 2025-26 season.
Eastern set the tone early, jumping out to a 20-11 lead in the first quarter behind efficient shooting—hitting 50% from the field, beyond the arc, and at the free-throw line. The Mountaineers' aggressive defense was evident as they committed six personal fouls to the Bulldogs' one in the opening period.EOU maintained its momentum in the second quarter, going 7-for-15 from the floor and 4-for-7 from three-point range. The Mounties locked down defensively, holding Montana Western to just nine points while shooting 57% themselves to take a commanding 38-20 lead into halftime.
The Bulldogs responded after the break, shooting 50% from the field and 67% from beyond the arc to outscore EOU 20-18 in the third quarter. However, Eastern held steady in the final period, converting 80% of their free throws to stay in control and seal the victory. The physical play shifted toward Montana Western in the second half, as the Bulldogs committed nine personal fouls to Eastern's four. The Mounties capitalized at the line, adding six key points to close out the win.
Eastern's bench once again showcased its depth, contributing 33 points and fueling a strong defensive effort that turned 20 Bulldog turnovers into 26 points. The Mounties, meanwhile, limited Montana Western to just seven points off their own 16 turnovers.
Kali Kast led the charge with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, recording her first double-double of the season, and earning All-Tournament Team.
Kelsie Siegner followed with 13 points, four rebounds, and a block, while
Raquel Fehringer added 10 points and three assists.
Eastern Oregon continues non-conference play next week at the Caldwell Classic, where they'll face Northern New Mexico College on Friday, Nov. 21, with tipoff set for 1 p.m. MT.
