Eastern Caps Off Regular Season in Historic Fashion

LACEY, Wash. – Eastern Oregon men's soccer wrapped up a perfect regular season with a 3-1 road win over The Evergreen State College on Saturday afternoon at the Regional Athletic Complex. The Mountaineers (13-0-4, 10-0-2 CCC) finished as the only unbeaten team in Cascade Collegiate Conference play heading into the postseason.

For the first time in program history, they have gone undefeated—and they also secured the program's first regular-season championship.

EOU opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Anthony Macedo found the back of the net off a through ball from Daniel Kropf, putting the Mounties ahead 1-0 at the break. Evergreen (1-12-2, 1-9-2 CCC) responded in the 62nd minute, leveling the match with a penalty kick goal from Kainoa Wong.

Eastern Oregon answered quickly. Just two minutes later, Marcos Bravo regained the lead with his team-leading 10th goal of the season on an assist from Macedo. Kropf then added insurance in the 74th minute with a penalty kick goal—his fourth of the year.

The Mountaineers controlled the tempo, outshooting Evergreen 19-6 and placing 11 shots on goal. Bravo and Kropf each recorded a goal, while Macedo finished with a goal and an assist. Evergreen goalkeeper Tom Cole made eight saves and faced a flurry of second-half pressure.

EOU goalkeeper Anthony Lemus made two saves to earn his ninth win of the season. The Mountaineers committed 13 fouls and received three yellow cards in a chippy match that featured 32 total fouls and a red card issued to Evergreen in the 90th minute.

With the win, Eastern Oregon enters the CCC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, riding an unbeaten streak and finishing the regular season with the program's best-ever record. As CCC postseason play continues tomorrow, EOU will await the release of the conference tournament brackets.
