MEDFORD, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon men's soccer team's tournament run came to a heartbreaking end on Saturday night, as the Mounties fell to Bushnell in a penalty shootout after a 1–1 draw in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Lithia & Driveway Fields.
Top-seeded EOU controlled possession for much of the match and outshot the Beacons 18–12, but Bushnell held firm defensively and made the most of its chances to advance.
Eastern broke through first in the 22nd minute when Marcos Bravo scored his 11th goal of the season, finishing a ball from
Anthony Macedo to give the Mounties a 1–0 lead. EOU maintained its advantage into halftime, limiting Bushnell to just two first-half shots.
The Beacons equalized in the 63rd minute when Omar Barajas buried a pass from Walter Reustle to make it 1–1. Despite several late opportunities — including five Mountie shots in the first overtime period — Eastern couldn't find the winner.
After 110 minutes of play, the match went to penalties. Bushnell converted three of its four attempts, while EOU scored once, as the Beacons claimed the shootout 3–1 to move on to the CCC semifinals.
The draw officially ends EOU's record-breaking campaign with an unbeaten regular season and the program's first CCC regular-season title. The Mounties will now await the conclusion of conference tournaments and the announcement of NAIA national tournament bids to determine their opening-round opponent.
