HELENA, Mont. – Eastern Oregon men's soccer remained undefeated in Cascade Collegiate Conference play after a gritty 3-2 win over RV Carroll College on Thursday evening at Nelson Stadium. The Mountaineers (8-0-3, 5-0-1 CCC) scored three goals to rally from an early deficit and fend off the Saints (7-2-1, 5-1-0 CCC) in a battle of top spot CCC contenders.
Carroll opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Felix Billard converted an unassisted effort to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. But the Mounties responded just seconds before halftime, leveling the match at 1-1 thanks to a well-lifted ball from
Anthony Macedo and a header from
JJ Gallardo.
Eastern Oregon came out of the break with urgency and quickly flipped the momentum. In the 54th minute,
Milton Hernandez slotted home the go-ahead goal—again assisted by Macedo—before
Marcos Bravo added a third goal just over 10 minutes later with a brilliant solo strike.
Billard brought Carroll back within one in the 87th minute with a late penalty kick, but EOU's defense held firm in the final minutes to secure the victory.
The Mountaineers were outshot 11-10 but held a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Macedo finished the match with two assists, while Hernandez, Gallardo, and Bravo each tallied goals.
Goalkeeper
Anthony Lemus recorded three saves for Eastern Oregon, including two in the second half to preserve the lead.
The match featured physical play throughout, with eight total yellow cards—five issued to the Mounties and three to the Saints.
Eastern Oregon will look to keep its unbeaten streak alive as it continues its CCC road swing this weekend on Saturday, October 11, at 2:30 p.m. at Rocky Mountain College.
