LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon women's soccer earned a key 2-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory Friday afternoon, coming from behind to defeat Oregon Tech at Community Stadium. The Mountaineers (9-4-1, 6-2-0 CCC) responded to an early deficit with goals in both halves to knock off the visiting Owls (7-4-2, 3-3-1 CCC).
Oregon Tech opened the scoring in the 7th minute as Alejandra Salcedo found herself in the right spot in the box on an early corner kick and cleaned up a loose ball for her first goal of the season. EOU wasted little time answering, equalizing just seven minutes later when
Siena Salazar tallied her fifth goal of the season, assisted by
Macy Reed, in the 14th minute off a corner kick as well.
The match remained tied until the 69th minute, when Peyton Jacaway bent the ball in to score the game-winner—her third of the season—on a well-placed assist from
Ava Henkemeyer.
Eastern Oregon outshot Oregon Tech 12-5 overall and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Jacaway led the Mountaineers with two shots on goal, while Salazar and Hailey Rogan also recorded shots on target. EOU generated six shots in each half and maintained steady attacking pressure throughout.
Goalkeeper Rylee Schei made two saves in the win, including one in each half. Oregon Tech's Emma Beavin finished with two saves on four shots on goal.
Eastern Oregon now prepares to host Southern Oregon on Saturday at 4 p.m. and will celebrate its 11 seniors during halftime of the men's game.
