KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Oregon Women's Wrestling is receiving national attention ahead of the 2025-2026 season, earning 25 votes in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, as announced by the NAIA national office on Thursday morning.
Four Mountaineers earned spots in the national individual rankings, including all three returning national qualifiers.
Nia Avelino leads the charge at the No. 13 spot in the 110 weight class, with teammate
Telsarina Walter right behind her at the No. 14, also in the 110 weight class.
Trinity Tafoya checks in at No. 16 in the 180 pound class, while
Kiona Michels rounds out EOU's national rankings at No. 20 in the 207 weight class.
Several more Mountaineers were recognized in the NAIA Preseason Cascade Conference Ratings, released on Tuesday. Those receiving recognition include
Gloria Diaz,
Brooklyn Jones,
Lexie Garza,
Jocelyn Velasco, and
Jessailah Thammavongsa.
The rankings are determined through a voting process involving a panel of head coaches representing each conference, using a points-based system that evaluates team and individual performances.
