CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team has been picked fifth in the 2025-26 Cascade Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll, released Wednesday morning.
The Mountaineers earned 80 points, including one first-place vote, as they prepare for the upcoming season. College of Idaho topped the poll with 117 points and eight first-place votes, followed by Southern Oregon (103 points, two first-place votes), Lewis-Clark State (93 points), and Oregon Tech (88 points).
EOU looks to build on last year's 18-11 overall record (13-9 CCC), which ended in the conference tournament quarterfinals. Despite the loss of
Malachi Afework and All-CCC selections
Garrett Hawkes and
TJ Doman, the Mounties return a solid core and have added several key newcomers in hopes of making a deeper postseason run.
James Bodily,
Trent Rogers, and
Logan Orchard are set to lead Eastern this season, joined by junior transfers
Eamon Monahan (Wenatchee Valley College) and
Keilan Torkornoo (Multnomah).
Bodily averaged 8.9 points per game last year and followed closely behind Hawkes as one of the team's top three-point shooters. Rogers contributed 7.6 points per game and led the Mountaineers with an .850 free-throw percentage, while Orchard led all returners in total rebounds (70) and steals (23).
Eastern opens its 2025-26 campaign next weekend in Butte, Montana, facing Dickinson State and Montana Tech on October 24 and 25. Both games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MT.
