PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite a strong offensive performance led by
James Bodily's 23 points, Eastern Oregon came up just short in a nail-biting 87-86 loss to Multnomah in Cascade Collegiate Conference action Friday night.
The Mountaineers trailed 42-39 at halftime and battled throughout the second half, shooting an impressive 62.1% from the field. However, Multnomah managed to hold on, edging EOU by a single point in the closing minutes.
James Bodily led Eastern Oregon with 23 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range. He also grabbed six rebounds.
Malachi Afework contributed 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
TJ Doman added 12 points, including six free throws.
Logan Orchard provided a spark off the bench with 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Multnomah was led by Keilan Torkornoo and Noah McCord, who each finished with 16 points. McCord also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. Marje Windfield chipped in 15 points, including three three-pointers.
Eastern Oregon shot an efficient 58.8% from the field and 55% from beyond the arc, compared to Multnomah's 50% field goal shooting and 34.8% from three-point range. The Mountaineers held a slight rebounding edge at 32-27 but struggled with turnovers, committing 22 to the Lions' 11.
EOU looks ahead to its next matchup against the Warner Pacific Knights at 5 p.m. in Portland.
