BILLINGS, Mont. – Eastern Oregon women's soccer dropped its second Cascade Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon, falling 5-1 to Rocky Mountain College at Wendy's Field. The Mountaineers (8-4-1, 5-2-0 CCC) battled to a 1-1 tie in the first half, but a four-goal second half from the Battlin' Bears (6-3-1, 4-2-1 CCC) put them on top.
Rocky struck first in the 26th minute on a goal by Charlize Davis, assisted by Georgia Dean, but Eastern Oregon responded quickly. Just four minutes later,
Gracie Rainsberry connected with
Carly Imes, who netted her first goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.
The Bears broke the game open after halftime with goals from Grace Curnow (55'), Emma Lensing (69'), Georgia Dean (76', PK), and Darby McMahill (87') to seal the result.
The Mountaineers were outshot 14-11 overall and 8-4 in shots on goal.
Rylee Schei and
Hannah Krantz split time in goal, with Schei making three saves in the first half. Krantz played 21 minutes before receiving a red card in the 76th minute, leading to a Rocky penalty kick conversion by Dean.
Imes led EOU offensively with the lone goal, while Rainsberry added her second assist of the season.
Peyton Jacaway,
Kaydence Martinez, and
Karina DeYoung also contributed shots on target.
The match featured five total cards—three to Eastern Oregon (including a red) and two to Rocky Mountain—as well as a 6-4 corner kick advantage for the Bears.
Eastern Oregon returns home next week looking to bounce back and regain momentum in CCC play as the Mountaineers prepare for their Senior Weekend.
