KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Mounties rallied late to secure a thrilling 78-69 comeback victory over receiving votes Oregon Tech in Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Saturday at Danny Miles Court. The Mountaineers capped the game with a dominant 10-1 run and celebrated a career milestone as senior Brie Holecek surpassed 1,000 career points in the win.
The Mountaineers (13-6, 9-5 CCC) erased a double-digit first-half deficit with balanced scoring and clutch defense, holding the Owls (15-4, 11-2 CCC) to just 35 total second-half points while scoring 25 in both the third and fourth quarters. With the game tied at 68, Eastern Oregon took over in the closing minutes, scoring 10 of the last 11 points.
Holecek led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Kelsie Siegner added 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Brinley Hagemeier contributed 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Kaiea Waiwaiole chipped in seven points and eight rebounds, anchoring EOU's efforts on the glass.
Oregon Tech was paced by Jozie Ramos, who tallied 13 points and four rebounds, and Kennedy Tull, who added nine points and six boards.
Eastern Oregon shot 41.7% from distance and knocked down 10 three-pointers, including a blistering 71.4% clip in the third quarter that helped them take control. They also capitalized at the charity stripe, converting 14-of-19 attempts. The Mountaineers' defense forced 14 turnovers and limited OIT to just six made three-pointers.
The Mounties will next travel to Salem, Oregon, to face the Corban Warriors on January 31, with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
