CALDWELL, Idaho - Eastern Oregon men's basketball dropped a 89-61 contest to College of Idaho on Tuesday evening at the J.A. Albertsons Activities Center.
Despite a strong first-half effort that saw the Mountaineers (11-5, 6-4 CCC) carry a 40-38 lead into halftime, the Yotes (14-2, 9-1 CCC) took control after the break. College of Idaho exploded for 51 points in the second half, holding EOU to just 21 points on 26.9% shooting.
Brennen Newsom led the Mountaineers with 15 points and six rebounds, while Garrett Hawkes added 13 points, including three three-pointers. Trent Rogers contributed 10 points off the bench.
Johnny Radford fueled the Yotes' offense with a game-high 19 points, connecting on four triples and going 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Dougie Peoples added 15 points, and Tyler Robinett tallied 14 points, four rebounds, and two blocks. College of Idaho shot 48.6% from the field and knocked down 14 three-pointers at a 51.9% clip.
Turnovers proved costly for Eastern Oregon, as the team committed 17, leading to 31 points for College of Idaho. The Yotes also dominated the interior, outscoring the Mountaineers 40-18 in the paint.
Eastern Oregon will aim to bounce back on Friday, January 17, when they host Warner Pacific University at Quinn Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
