Mountaineers Win Sixth Straight Against Northwest

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Mountaineers picked up their sixth straight win with a commanding performance, defeating Northwest University 86-54 on Saturday afternoon at the Kristi Brodin Pavilion.

Brie Holecek led the Mountaineers, recording a game-high 20 points along with eight rebounds and four assists. Kelsie Siegner added 11 points and seven rebounds, while Kaiea Waiwaiole and Maggie Smith chipped in six points apiece to support the balanced scoring attack. Eastern Oregon's bench was pivotal, contributing 43 points, including nine from Brinley Hagemeier, who shot 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.

The Mountaineers were efficient throughout the contest, shooting 49.2% from the field and hitting 86.7% of their free throws. They dominated the paint with a 38-22 scoring advantage and controlled the boards with a 37-25 rebounding edge.

Northwest's Kimberly Carrada Sanchez was a bright spot for the Eagles, finishing with 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting. However, Eastern Oregon's defensive effort stifled Northwest, holding them to just 34.5% shooting from the floor while forcing 15 turnovers.

Eastern Oregon surged in the first half, building a 44-34 lead at the break, before clamping down defensively in the second half. They outscored Northwest 42-20 in the final two quarters, holding the Eagles to just eight points in the third frame.

The Mountaineers continue to climb in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with their sixth straight win, improving to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Eastern Oregon will travel to Caldwell, Idaho, on Tuesday to face the College of Idaho.
