Second Half Rally Lifts Mountaineers Over Geoducks

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers secured a 58-48 road victory over Evergreen State College in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday evening. The Mountaineers showed a strong second-half performance to overcome a narrow halftime deficit and claim the game.

Kelsie Siegner led the way for EOU, scoring a game-high 23 points on 8-of-18 shooting, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Siegner also grabbed nine rebounds, playing all 40 minutes. Maggie Smith added nine points and six rebounds, while Brie Holecek contributed seven points and eight rebounds.

The Mountaineers trailed 27-25 at halftime but turned the tide in the third quarter, outscoring Evergreen 18-12. Siegner's hot hand and the Mountaineers' improved shooting (43.8% in the third quarter), including connecting on 11-of-31 attempts from three-point range, fueled their rally.

For Evergreen, Jalyn Sackrider paced the Geoducks with 19 points and nine rebounds. Sydney VanNess chipped in 13 points, hitting 3-of-5 from deep, while Mikail Montez tallied nine points and five rebounds.

The Mountaineers dominated the boards, out rebounding the Geoducks 42-33, including a 13-11 advantage on the offensive glass, which resulted in 17 second-chance points.
