LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Mountaineers women's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Rocky Mountain College on Saturday afternoon, with a second-half goal proving decisive in a tightly contested match.
The only goal of the game came in the 65th minute when Rocky Mountain's forward Charlize Davis capitalized on an assist from Mya Maack to give the Battlin' Bears the lead.
Eastern Oregon picked up their pressure throughout the course of the match, especially in the second half, where they outshot the Battlin' Bears 5-4., but their attempts were thwarted by a strong performance from Rocky Mountain's goalkeeper Hannah Trumbull, recording five saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The Bears held the advantage in shots, registering 14 total attempts compared to Eastern Oregon's eight, and putting nine shots on target. EOU goalkeeper Maddie Barker made several key saves, finishing with a game-high eight stops to keep her team in contention.
