EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 2-ranked Mountaineers continued their winning ways, sweeping Bushnell University 3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Friday night. With the victory, EOU improved to 12-1 overall and 4-1 in conference action, while the Beacons fell to 8-6 and 3-3 in the CCC.
Eastern Oregon was led by outside hitter Keira Vaughn, who tallied 14 kills on a .321 hitting percentage, and Ashton Bales, who added 9 kills while hitting .300 and recording 3 blocks. Kiauna Mack contributed 7 kills and a match-high 6 blocks, helping the Mountaineers control the net throughout the match. EOU hit .264 as a team with 44 kills and 12 blocks over the three sets.
In the first set, Eastern Oregon jumped out to an early lead with efficient attacking to secure a 25-16 win. Bushnell challenged the Mountaineers in the second set, but EOU held off the Beacons' late push to take it 25-21. The third set saw Eastern Oregon pull away again, closing out the sweep with another 25-16 victory.
Defensively, libero Hailey Arritola anchored the backline with a match-high 21 digs, while setters Alexis McMurtrey and Hannah Ledgerwood combined for 36 assists. Ledgerwood also added 2 service aces and 5 digs to round out her solid performance.
Amyah Semau and Ariana Guerra led Bushnell with 9 kills each, but the Beacons struggled offensively, finishing with a .112 hitting percentage and committing 17 attack errors.
