LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 2 ranked Eastern Oregon earned a dominant victory over The Evergreen State College on Saturday afternoon at Quinn Coliseum, defeating the Geoducks in straight sets. The Mountaineers improved to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, while the Geoducks dropped to 0-7 and 0-4 in the CCC.
Eastern Oregon dominated the first set with a .474 hitting percentage, cruising to a 25-12 victory. Evergreen showed more fight in the second set, but EOU maintained control to win 25-18. The third set was the closest of the match, with the Mounties closing out the sweep 25-19.
The Mounties were led by a balanced attack, with Kiauna Mack and Keira Vaughn each posting eight kills. Mack added five blocks, while Vaughn contributed two blocks. Madison Morgan also fueled the offense with six kills on an efficient .750 hitting percentage. As a team, EOU hit .258, totaling 42 kills and 18 blocks across three sets.
Brooke Womack anchored Eastern Oregon's defense with 11 digs, while setter Alexis McMurtrey dished out 18 assists and recorded 2 service aces. For Evergreen, Ashley Walker led the Geoducks with 8 kills and hit .389, but their offense struggled to find consistency, finishing with a .065 hitting percentage and committing 19 attack errors.
