Eastern Oregon Named CCC Athletic Training Staff of the Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. –  The Eastern Oregon University athletic training staff was recognized for their work on Wednesday, as they were honored with the title of the 2023-24 Cascade Collegiate Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year.

The CCC Association of Student Athletes (ASA) representatives conducted the vote to determine the top athletic training staff in the conference, with the EOU staff emerging as the deserving recipients of this accolade.

Chris Thew, the Head Athletic Trainer at Eastern Oregon University, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, "It is an honor for our staff to be recognized by the CCC ASA as the Athletic Training Staff of the Year. We strive not only to provide top-level care to our athletes but also to all of the CCC athletes who come into our facility. Through the support of our coaches and administration, we have the quality staff and tools to keep all athletes safe and participating in the sport they love."

Thew, who has been with EOU since 2019, serves as the primary Athletic Trainer for Football, Men's Basketball, and Women's Lacrosse. He holds certificates and licensure including Oregon Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) and Athletic Trainer (ATC), and holds a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Oregon University and a Master of Art from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Hilary Ishii, part of the EOU staff since 2016, is responsible for the health of athletes in Men's and Women's Soccer, Women's Wrestling, and Baseball. She holds certificates and licensure including Oregon Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) and Athletic Trainer (ATC), with a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Science from Cameron University.

Katy Hamill, who joined the staff in 2022, primarily cares for the health of athletes in Volleyball, Women's Basketball, and Track and Field. She holds certificates and licensure including Oregon Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) and Athletic Trainer (ATC), with a Bachelor of Science from Central Washington University and a Master of Science from Weber State University.
