Welch, Bracken, and Davis Receive USTFCCCA West Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Eastern Oregon University's track and field program continues to add to their collection of hardware, as Ben Welch, Connor Bracken, and TJ Davis have secured U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) awards for their contributions to the team's success in the West Region.

TJ Davis, a standout from Sandpoint, Idaho, clinches the title of Men's Field Athlete of the Year for the West Region. Davis currently leads the nation in the decathlon with an impressive 6996 points.

Ben Welch, in his 33rd year as Head Coach, earns double recognition as Men's and Women's Coach of the Year for the West Region. Under his leadership, the Mountaineers soared to victory at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, claiming multiple titles and setting program records. 

Assistant Coach Connor Bracken has been honored as the Men's Assistant Coach of the Year for the West Region. In his sixth year with the program, Bracken's guidance has helped seven of his athletes hit national qualifying marks and contributed significantly to this years conference championships victories.

These three will all travel alongside many other Mounties to the NAIA National Championships next weekend in Marion, Indiana, with action set to start on May 22.
