LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - No. 10 nationally ranked and No. 1 seeded Eastern Oregon Softball was back in action Wednesday as they took on the No. 13 and No. 2 seeded Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College in the second game of the Opening Rounds of the NAIA Softball National Championships. The Grizzlies took the lead in the fourth inning and never looked back to ultimately take the game by a score of 2-0.
The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when Georgia Gwinnett broke the deadlock with a single by Makenna Talcott, driving in Haley Robinson. They extended their lead in the fifth inning when Kloey Goins hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Angelica Gallegos to score, increasing their lead to 2-0.
Eastern struggled to generate offense against the Grizzlies pitching, managing only three hits throughout the game. Despite a solid performance from pitcher Kylie Parsons, who allowed just two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out five, the Mounties couldn't muster enough offense to mount a comeback.
Annalise Jarvis pitched a complete game shutout for Georgia Gwinnett, holding Eastern Oregon scoreless while allowing only three hits and striking out seven batters.
