Women's Basketball Caps Off Undefeated Weekend Against Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Eastern Oregon showcased a true team effort on Saturday night at Windemuth Court, with 11 different Mounties scoring in a decisive 73-47 win over Walla Walla.

Kaiea Waiwaiole led the charge offensively for EOU, scoring a game-high 18 points on 4-of-4 shooting from three-point distance while also leading the team with four assists.

Eastern Oregon set the tone early, outscoring Walla Walla 20-12 in the opening quarter. The Mounties held a 59-30 advantage heading into the fourth quarter, with the Wolves slightly trimming the deficit by winning the fourth quarter 17-14.

The Mountaineers' defense held WWU to 30.8% shooting from the field, including just 15.8% from beyond the arc. EOU also won the battle on the boards, out rebounding the Wolves 44-28. Fourteen offensive rebounds led to 18 second-chance points for the Eastern Oregon.

Sophomore guard Kelsie Siegner added 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while Mya Alvarado chipped in 10 points off the bench. EOU's bench played a pivotal role, contributing 39 points compared to Wolves' 10.

The Mountaineers tallied 21 assists on their 28 made field goals, with 10 different players recording an assist.

Walla Walla's Chariah Daniels contributed 12 points and eight rebounds in the contest, while Jaylo Bello led the Wolves with 13 points.

Eastern Oregon will next return to action back in La Grande on January 3rd, set to face off against the Bushnell Beacons at 5:30 p.m. at Quinn Coliseum.
