LEWISTON, Idaho — Eastern Oregon Mountaineers Women's basketball claimed an 81-71 road victory over the Lewis-Clark State Warriors at the P1FCU Activity Center. EOU shot an impressive 50.9% from the field, including 47.8% from three-point range, to secure the win.
Maggie Smith led the Mountaineers with a near-perfect shooting performance, scoring 18 points on 5-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc, while adding four rebounds and three assists.
Kelsie Siegner contributed a double-double effort with 12 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Brie Holecek chipped in 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Raquel Fehringer added energy off the bench with eight points and five assists.
The Mounties stormed out to a 26-21 lead after the first quarter, powered by sharp three-point shooting. They extended their advantage in the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors 24-14, with Smith hitting four triples. Despite a late push from the Warriors, the Mounties maintained composure in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Ellie Sander paced Lewis-Clark State with 12 points and two assists, while Tatum Brager provided a spark off the bench with a team-high 13 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Darian Herring added 10 points and six rebounds, and Lindsey Wilson contributed 11 points and six rebounds.
EOU's defense was critical, forcing 17 turnovers and converting them into 22 points while holding the Warriors to just 62.5% from the free-throw line. The Mountaineers outrebounded the Warriors 39-27, which helped them maintain control throughout the game.
The Mountaineers will now travel to Walla Walla and finish out their last conference play of the 2024 year against the Walla Walla University Wolves at 6 p.m. on Saturday December 21st.
