HELENA, Mont. — Eastern Oregon men's basketball secured a decisive 84-71 victory over Montana State-Northern at the Armory Gymnasium, improving their season record to 2-0.
Senior Jaden Hansen led the Mountaineers with an all-around performance, scoring 18 points on 4-of-9 shooting and sinking all 10 of his free throw attempts. Hansen also added five rebounds and four assists. Forward Brennen Newsom chipped in 12 points and grabbed six rebounds, showcasing his dominance in the paint for Eastern Oregon.
The game featured a tightly contested first half, with Eastern Oregon taking a narrow 40-36 lead into the break. The Mountaineers solidified their control in the second half, fueled by balanced scoring and defensive pressure that limited MSU-Northern's opportunities.
Garrett Hawkes contributed 11 points, while James Bodily provided an offensive spark off the bench with 11 points as well, connecting on three of his four attempts from beyond the arc.
MSU-Northern's Jack Reardon led all scorers with 19 points, but Eastern Oregon's defense effectively limited their bench production and capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 13 points.
