LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon put on an offensive display Friday night at Quinn Coliseum, sweeping the Lewis-Clark State Warriors in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-14). The Mountaineers maintained a .262 attack percentage across three sets, while the Warriors struggled to find momentum, hitting .093 overall.
It was landmark night for senior setter Alexis McMurtrey, who crossed the 3,000 career assist mark with 26 assists in the game. McMurtrey becomes only the third player in program history to reach this milestone, following Mountaineer alumni Rachelle Chamberlain and Madison Pilon.
EOU took control early, led by a dominant performance from Kiauna Mack, who posted an impressive .733 hitting percentage with 12 kills on just 15 attempts. Keira Vaughn and Ashton Bales provided solid support at the net, tallying eight and seven kills, respectively.
The Warriors showed moments of resilience, with Juliauna Forgach Aguilar leading Lewis-Clark with 12 kills and a .167 hitting percentage, while Taylin Rowley added 10 kills at a .207 clip. Setter Esther Kailiponi recorded 13 assists and nine digs; however, the team's 19 attack errors impacted their offensive rhythm.
Defensively, the Mountaineers stifled Lewis-Clark's hitters, with Hailey Arritola leading EOU with 13 digs.
Eastern Oregon will travel to the west side of the state for its last weekend of conference play, facing the Lions of Multnomah at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8.
