KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A first-half goal by
Kapri McMillan was all Eastern Oregon needed to edge out Oregon Tech 1-0 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference match up Saturday afternoon at OIT Soccer Field.
The decisive moment came in the 26th minute when McMillan found the back of the net off an assist from Megan Gustafson, giving EOU a 1-0 lead. The Mounties were able to hold on for the remainder of the match, despite facing relentless pressure from the Owls in the second half.
OIT outshoot EOU 9-0 in the second half and finished with a 12-4 advantage in shots overall. However, Mountaineers goalkeeper Maddie Barker stood tall, recording six saves, including five crucial stops in the second half, to secure the shutout.
Eastern Oregon's disciplined defense and Barker's strong performance allowed them to overcome OIT's constant pressure, as the Mounties handed the Owls their second conference loss of the season.
