LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers defeated the University of Providence Argos 3-1 in Cascade Conference play on Friday at Community Stadium.
Eastern Oregon came out strong, taking a 2-0 lead early in the first half. Brooke Snyder opened the scoring in the 14th minute with an unassisted goal. Just 24 seconds later, Gracie Hoover added another, assisted by Ashley Smith, giving the Mounties the advantage.
Providence responded in the 38th minute when Ernestina Serwaa Ofori found the back of the net, cutting the deficit to 2-1 at halftime.
The Mounties continued to press in the second half, and Gracie Rainsberry scored in the 53rd minute off a pass from Jillian Brown to secure the 3-1 victory.
Eastern Oregon controlled possession throughout, registering 35 shots, with 13 on goal, compared to Providence's 8 shots and 3 on target. Providence goalkeeper Chloe Pajaro made 10 saves on the night, while EOU's Rylee Schei collected 2 saves.
