EUGENE, Ore. — The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers surged in the second half to secure a 3-1 victory over the Bushnell Beacons on Saturday afternoon.
Bushnell struck first in the 28th minute when Emily Puita converted an unassisted goal, slipping past EOU goalkeeper
Rylee Schei in a one-on-one play. Despite the early deficit, the Mountaineers applied pressure throughout, outshooting the Beacons 19-3 and placing seven shots on goal to Bushnell's one.
Eastern Oregon found their breakthrough early in the second half.
Grace Schafer leveled the score in the 49th minute, capitalizing on an assist from
Karina DeYoung to slot the ball past Bushnell keeper Lexi Bates.
Kapri McMillan then put the Mountaineers ahead in the 64th minute, heading it into the back of the net from a
Megan Gustafson cross. Just minutes later,
Peyton Jacaway sealed the win with her goal in the 69th minute, again assisted by Gustafson.
