Salem, Ore. — The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers topped the Corban Warriors in a decisive 4-1 victory on Friday at the Outdoor Athletic Complex.
Eastern Oregon opened the scoring early in the first half, with forward
Jahrie Gray finding the net at the 14:31 mark off an assist from
Rene Prieto. Later in the half,
Marcos Bravo doubled EOU's lead with a goal in the 34th minute, assisted by
Angel Sandoval, making it 2-0 heading into halftime.
The Mountaineers maintained their momentum into the second half as Sandoval extended the lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute with help from
Jesus Alvarez. Corban responded with a goal from Irwin Leon at the 73:08 mark, narrowing the gap to 3-1. However, Gray struck again for EOU in the 80th minute, sealing the 4-1 win with an unassisted goal.
EOU dominated offensively, outshooting Corban 21-7, with nine shots on goal compared to the Warriors' two. Goalkeeper
Anthony Lemus recorded one save for the Mountaineers, while Corban's Isaac Pureco tallied five saves amid Eastern Oregon's pressure.
