LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon Women's Lacrosse team, under the leadership of first-season head coach Scott Shannon, has announced its official spring schedule for 2024. The schedule sets the stage for an exciting season for the Mountaineers, featuring a mix of regional and national matchups.
The action kicks off on February 17th, as Eastern Oregon faces off against Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington at 12:00 p.m. The team will then take on Whitman College in a home game at Community Stadium on February 18th.
Coach Shannon expressed his enthusiasm for the expanded schedule, stating, "We're really excited to expand our NAIA schedule in 2024. Picking up three games in the southeast US in March is important for our development as a program, as we have the long-range goal of building into a national contender and becoming tournament eligible."
The Mountaineers will embark on a southeastern tour in March, facing formidable opponents in Montreat College (N.C.), Life University, and Tennessee Wesleyan University.
"Our schedule will help to measure where we stack up against some of the best teams in the NAIA and what we need to do to reach our goals," Coach Shannon added. "It also is an opportunity for our players to individually play on a bigger stage, get noticed by other coaches, and be considered for honors like All-American."
The spring schedule continues with challenging matchups against Corban University, Lewis & Clark College, Linfield University, Pacific University, and Willamette University, facing top-tier competition on the west coast.
