SALEM, Ore. - Beverley Slater continued her career-long skill of rebounding in Saturday's dominant victory over Corban, grabbing a total of 16 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end. Her efforts provided crucial second chances for the team in their 87-55 victory over the Warriors.
In addition to her stellar performance, Slater also reached a significant personal milestone by surpassing 1,000 career rebounds, becoming the first in program history to do so. The senior, maintaining an average of 10.5 rebounds this season, is the Mountaineers all-time leader on the boards.
Eastern Oregon finished the evening with an impressive 45.2% overall field goal percentage and a 40.7% success rate from beyond the arc. They dominated the boards, out rebounding Corban 51 to 27, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities with 21 points in that category. The Mounties also created opportunities off their swarming defense, collecting 18 points off turnovers.
Brie Holecek led the scoring for Eastern Oregon with 16 points while Macie Elliott added 13 as well, each shooting 50% from the field. Bayley Brennan connected on three triples, finishing the evening with 13 points of her own.
Corban was challenged by the Mountaineers defense, finishing with just a 34.5% overall field goal percentage. Teayona Hoard stood out with 15 points, while Autumn Agnew scored 9 points and collected 4 rebounds.Â
Eastern Oregon now stands 10-4 overall, 6-4 in conference, and will prepare for next Friday's matchup with The Evergreen State College back in La Grande.
