KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Eastern Oregon was back in action Saturday Morning as they took on the Saints of Carroll College in an elimination game on day two of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament. It took extra innings, but the Mounties came away on top after a Hannah Tyree walk-off solo bomb in the bottom of the eighth gave Eastern a 3-2 victory.
Eastern jumped out to an early lead after a Kelly Monaghan solo shot over the center field fence gave EOU a 1-0 advantage. The Mounties tacked on another run in the bottom of the third after an Addison Ribordy double down the left field line allowed Haley Tyree to score, giving EOU a 2-0 lead. The Saints responded, scoring one run in the top of the fourth after a Annie Davidson single to left field and a Mountaineer throwing error, allowed Kristen Norris to score, taking the score to 2-1. Carroll tied the game up at two a piece in the top of the sixth after an Alyssa Lybbert solo home run. After seven innings of play the score was knotted up at two, taking the game to extra innings. Eastern shut the Saints down in the top of the Eighth leading to a two-out walk off bomb by First Team All-CCC honoree Hannah Tyree in the bottom of the eighth inning, advancing the Mountaineers with a 3-2 victory in dramatic fashion.
